Odile de Saivre
CEO, Societe Generale Equipment Finance

Odile de Saivre has been appointed CEO of Societe Generale Equipment Finance (SGEF) on September 1st, 2022.

She was previously, since 2017, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of SGEF and, as such, already a member of the SG Group’s Management Committee.

Beforehand, Odile de Saivre held various positions in Societe Generale group, mostly within Societe Generale Corporate and Investment Banking (SG CIB) : she joined in 1997 the Equity Capital Market team, then moved to the Strategic and Acquisition Finance department and Asset Based Finance. In 2010, she headed the Global Finance team in charge of credit risk monitoring ; she then moved to Russia as Deputy Head of Corporate Lending Department. In 2015, she was leading the Project Export Finance team.

She holds a degree from Ecole Centrale Paris.

Andrew Denton is Alfa's Chief Executive Officer and leads the Group. Andrew joined the company in 1995 and became a member of the Board of Directors in 2003 as Sales and Marketing Director. He was made Chief Operating Officer in 2014 and became CEO in September 2016. Andrew is also director and joint founder of the Leasing Foundation, an organisation that supports the leasing and asset finance industry through charitable activities, research and development.

Deputy Chief Executive Officer, BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions

Pascal Layan currently serves as Deputy CEO at BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions where he is also a member of the General Management Committee. He is responsible for business development across three international business lines: Equipment & Logistics Solutions, Technology Lifecycling Solutions and Bank Leasing Services. Furthermore, Pascal is responsible for the business’ marketing and consulting activities.

In 2012 Pascal was named global head of Equipment & Logistics Solutions and a Board Member for both CNHi Capital Europe and CLAAS Financial Services. Prior to this role, he was Head of Marketing and Solutions and between 2008 and 2011, he served as Managing Director for BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions’ Portugal operations.

Between 2000 and 2008, Pascal was Sales Director for the Technology Solutions business line, firstly for BNP Paribas Lease Group in France, then internationally. From 1990 to 2000, he held several managerial roles within BNP Paribas entities specialising in vendor finance.

Group Chief Economist, BNP Paribas

William De Vijlder is the Group Chief Economist of BNP Paribas. He began his career in the Economic Research Department at Belgium’s Generale Bank in 1987 and became Chief Investment Strategist in the Asset Management division in 1989. He was subsequently Managing Director and Global Chief Investment Officer at Fortis Investments. When Fortis Investments merged with BNP Paribas Investment Partners in 2010, he became a member of the Executive Committee of BNP Paribas Investment Partners as CIO Partners and Alternative Investments and subsequently CIO Strategy and Partners. In September 2013, he was appointed Vice Chairman of BNP Paribas Investment Partners. Since September 2014 he is Group Chief Economist of BNP Paribas.

Marije Rhebergen is DLL’s Global Head of Sustainability. She is responsible for DLL’s sustainability strategy assuring adherence to regulations as well as supporting customers in the transition to low carbon and circular business models. Products and solutions cover circular and usage models, clean tech and energy solutions, CO2 reduction and ESG risk management, but also social impact programs such as DLL’s volunteering program and advisory support to emerging markets through which DLL aims to contribute to the challenges the world is facing. Before joining DLL, Marije built up extensive experience in sustainability related functions. Currently, she participates as Board Member of PartnerFonds Brainport Eindhoven and Board Member of Impact040.

Charles Garity
Senior Vice President, International Asset Manager , CSI Leasing

Charles has more than 15 years of experience in supporting global clients in their IT disposal strategy, also and oversees the portfolio and pricing for all of CSI Leasing’s subsidiaries throughout Europe and Latin America.

For the past 5 years, he has been part of the executive leadership that leads a team who processes over 1.8 million assets annually, saving 3 million pounds of e-waste per year.

Charles joined CSI in 2009 as director of asset management for CSI Latina. The consistent growth across the Latin American region is attributed to his expertise and work in establishing a new subsidiary in Peru, developing a successful bank relationship in Colombia and providing wholly-owned remarketing and recycling services throughout the region.

Prior to CSI, Charles worked for HP and Compaq Financial Services in several roles, including financial analyst, controller, and portfolio, pricing and remarketing manager. Charles was also a member of the Bank of New York American Depositary Receipt team that helped list Latin American corporations on the U.S. public markets.

Charles received a bachelor’s degree in finance from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia and an MBA from the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School.

With more than 20 years of experience in IT recycling, reselling, data security and data destruction, Damian is driven by helping companies dispose of IT securely and sustainably. Damian joined CSI in 2001 as a European Lifecycle Services Manager and was promoted to European Asset Remarketing & Lifecycle Services in 2019. Matthias Grossmann is the CEO for the Commercial Finance business of Siemens Financial Services. Matthias has almost 30 years’ experience with the Siemens Group. He has worked in the US and Germany; and was until 2019 based in Sweden where he was CFO for the Siemens Nordic region. He was also Head of Corporate Pensions, the unit responsible for group-wide and Siemens AG pension management. The Leasing Life Awards 2022 will take place on 15th November in Paris, France at the Leasing Life Conference. Full details of this year’s categories and criteria can be found below.

Nominations are now open – deadline for entries is 5pm GMT on 17th October 2022.

Award Categories


Distribution Channel Management Champion

A good distribution channel management lessor covers the full value chain from acquiring and onboarding channel partners (resellers, dealers.), making them an integrated part of their ‘Go2Market’ model & Sales channel, including training, marketing / animation programs, as well as “easy to deal with” processes & IT systems to help them support their business growth with a performance sales financing program

Judges will consider:

• Sustainable year on year business growth of the distribution channel and evidence of increased penetration of the leasing offer in the product sales of the channel’s partners
• Existence of online capabilities for the management end to end of the transactions, including online automatic credit scoring
• Evidence of training, marketing, and sales support programs, including a focused channel management organization, to help the partners growing their business profitably
• Examples of “added value” services brought to the partners
• Evidence of partner satisfaction in terms of relationship management, quality of service and reporting tools

Professional Services Provider

The stand-out firms are those that lead thinking, add value back to the industry and challenge the status quo while offering an exemplary service on top of their industry knowledge. Asset finance must be a core discipline and demand a real focus from the firm.
Except for software houses (to avoid potential conflict of interest with sponsors), applicants to this award can be any services company to the leasing & Asset finance industry: management consultants, legal firms, training company, marketing and communication agencies,

Judges will consider:

• Team focus – is it a specialised asset finance professional services team? Can it clearly bring in other disciplines where needed?
• Scope of services offered to meet the various demands and example of successful projects
• Thought Development – is the firm proactive in challenging and informing the industry.
• The professional services client satisfaction and market reputation.
• Growth of profile and capability; has the firm built on its successes and made inroads into developing its service reach and client capability.
• People development – does the professional services provider demonstrate a development culture and do they bring on (and attract) strong new talent.

SME Champion

This award recognises European and UK asset finance lenders that directly engage in supporting the SME market, beyond volume picked up via wholesale/intermediary type operations.

Judges will consider:

• Demonstrable interest in the SME markets, beyond the provision of finance
• Clear endorsement from clients
• Consistent growth and commitment to the SME market
• Examples of demonstrating creativity and addressing SME market demands in imaginative ways, including risk policies

Vendor Finance Provider

This award recognises an asset finance lessor that has worked in conjunction with a manufacturer to provide tailored asset finance at the point of sale. The essence of success is building strong and successful partnerships that add clear value to both sides: this is not just about the provision of funding but also about creating a strong service and partnership business culture that withstands the ebbs and flows of the external environment.

Judges will consider:

• Range and longevity of working partnerships
• Endorsement from vendor partners
• Evidence of developing more than “just financing”
• Growth over time and the depth of their commitment to the business sector.
• Evidence of training, marketing, and sales support programs, including a focused vendor management organization, to help the vendors grow their business profitably
• Evidence of OEMs satisfaction in terms of relationship management, quality of service and reporting tools

European Lessor

To qualify for this award, nominees must have businesses across at least two of Europe’s major five economies and write at least €500m worth of new business annually. The European lessor of the year should be able to explain how it is driving change in the industry with market initiatives, product design, or value-add services.

Judges will consider:
• Business being written in multiple jurisdictions within the EU
• Strong brand market presence in multiple jurisdictions
• Evidencing should include deal volumes, with some ‘marquee’ deal example, with a few lines explaining size and complexity.
• Demonstrating how the lessor is driving change in the industry with market initiatives, product design, value-added services, alignment of operations / back-office activities

Captive Lessor

This award is open to nominations for the captive finance houses of any commercial asset or vehicle producer. This award recognises real focus on the captive’s efforts in supporting the parent and developing solutions that are relevant. Support through all parts of the economic cycle is a critical feature and the lessor should be able to demonstrate how they use their skills to improve the products and services to assist sales and create additional value.

Judges will consider:

• Degree of finance penetration both in absolute terms and as a percentage of parent sales
• Demonstrating a commitment to support through all stages of the economic cycle and finding creative solutions to challenges (e.g., difficult markets/locations)
• Creativity in product design, implementation and in service, both to the parent and to the customer
• Evidence of the strength of the Parent/Lessor relationship showing how they work “hand in glove” to add additional value to the customer and additional value to their group.

Digital Innovation

This award is meant to recognise a policy, product or leasing related site or application that pushes the envelope on how commercial lessors relate to their customers including Servitization and Subscription models (Pay as you Go)

Judges will consider:

• The judges must understand, through a convincing narrative, about the genesis of the product or site, and about how it is new or differentiates itself from previous digital innovations.
• Evidence must be provided on how the innovation improves the customer experience, or allows an improvement on costs, speed of transaction or response and communication.
• Evidence of commercial advantage through the innovation is encouraged.
• Potential developments as well as implemented innovations qualify, e.g., regarding data quality, the use of block chain/distributed ledger technology in the areas of document and asset verification could qualify, as much as a client facing site or direct platform innovation, or an efficiency in the speed of service.

Best ‘ESG/Sustainability’ Initiative of the Year

This award is meant to recognise major initiatives undertaken by a lessor in the ESG domains, either within their company or outside

Judges will consider the existence of proven initiatives in at least two of the three ESG areas

· Environment: proven initiative to protect environment, save energy, reduction of carbon emissions …
· Social: The applicants should demonstrate a major initiative regarding diversity, inclusion, equality at work, social program
· Governance: proven initiative in terms of fight against corruption and fraud, transparency of information to the various stakeholders (clients, employees, shareholders).

Best Circular Economy Model

To qualify for this award, nominees must have implemented operational solutions covering the full value chain from collection of used equipment to remarketing

Judges will consider proven evidence of:

· An asset management Information system
· Organization and processes to source used equipment from off lease and / or trade in from existing fleets
· Refurbishment capabilities including required steps in terms of data erasure, waste management …
· Remarketing capabilities

Best Energy Transition financing program(s)

This award is meant to recognise lessors’ contribution to the financing of new assets and solutions part of the energy transition revolution

Judges will consider
· The existence of initiatives / programs re financing Energy Transition related assets and solutions: renewables, batteries, EV chargers, cooling systems, lighting, etc with concrete examples.
· The existence of initiatives / programs re financing e mobility assets: e cars, e bikes, e scooters
· The creativity of the financial solutions to address these new and not yet well-known markets
• An initiative designed to help customers achieve transition to a carbon neutral status.
• Evidence of uptake and success of the program.

Young Professional of the Year

The young professional of the year category will recognise someone under 40 years of age who in 2022 has demonstrated the depth of their talent and the breadth of their expertise in the leasing and asset finance industry. The winner does not need to have risen to a senior position but will be someone who peers agree has had a positive impact on the leasing community, influencing not just the success of their company but also the wider industry, and is judged by the Leasing Life editorial team.

The following awards are presented to individuals and as such these will be awarded by the judging panel without prior nomination.

Industry Ambassador of the Year

This award will be given to an individual who is considered to have done more than any other to promote, develop and enhance the reputation, economic role and social status of the leasing industry in 2022

Lifetime Achievement Award

This prestigious award goes to an individual who has helped to build and to shape the international leasing industry during their career. Their contribution will have driven new developments across the industry. They will have successfully steered companies and mentored colleagues through challenges and taken strategic leadership within their organization and the leasing community. They will be a top influencer among their leasing peers, and with the wider business community. The Lifetime Achievement award recognizes talent, tenacity, experience and commitment.

Covid 19 Safety Information

Arena International is closely monitoring COVID-19 and any potential impact on the event.

Your health and safety come first, which is why we are strictly adhering to the latest guidance from the World Health Organization, Catalan Government, and our Venues to ensure measures that will safeguard our guests, the industry, and the larger community.

We are committed to implementing these regulations and measures. Our plans and recommendations will be reviewed and amended on an ongoing basis.

Please note you are responsible for following your departing countries guidelines when travelling abroad. So please continue to check these requirements.

 

Restrictions and Recommendations at Leasing Life 2022

• Vaccination certificates are no longer required to attend events

• It is mandatory to wear a face covering both outdoors (this does not apply when seated for eating or drinking)

• Conferences, business meetings and seminars are allowed at 100% capacity with no social distancing

• We will have PPE items available for attendees at registration (masks, gloves).

• There will be hand sanitisers located at critical locations all throughout the venue.

• Regular cleaning and sanitisation are in place for higher frequented areas/items, such as handrails, doorknobs, restrooms, or elevator buttons.

• AV equipment such as microphones will be constantly sanitised.

• Speakers in the event room will speak on the stage without wearing a mask for the duration of the lecture.

• If we are informed of a confirmed positive Covid-19 test at the event, attendees will be notified via email.
